Fiscal Sponsorship Services
Lex Populi offers fiscal sponsorship services tailored to the needs of each project or organization and their funders. Guided by our key values of commitment to local partners, human rights, and responsible stewardship, we engage closely with our fiscal sponsorship partners to not only help them implement the sponsored programs, but also to help them become resilient advocates for progress, justice, and sustainable growth. Lex Populi, a not-for-profit foundation (“stichting”) registered in the Hague, Netherlands, is currently applying for charitable (ANBI) status, which will allow receipt of tax-deductible donations in the Netherlands. We expect that U.S. public charity equivalency determination will follow in early 2027, allowing receipt of direct U.S. foundation grant funds.

Collaborative and flexible
We know that each situation and project is unique and has unique needs for support. We work closely with both funders and beneficiary organizations or projects to tailor the menu of support needed at the start. We also realize that circumstance can change quickly, and we remain in close coordination with our sponsorship partners throughout the program lifecycle to ensure that our support remains responsive to the circumstances on the ground.

Drawing on over 30 years of experience carried over from its sister organization EWMI, Lex Populi experts and staff have worked globally with civic initiatives and organizations operating in challenging contexts. We understand that taking on new responsibilities for administration and compliance can seem overwhelming, and we strive to be a source of support in addressing and resolving these challenges.

Grants & contracts management
Our team can administer grant and contract agreements, taking on responsibility for ensuring compliance with relevant laws including conducting due diligence and risk assessments, transferring funds to grantees and contractors directly, and monitoring implementation.
Financial
management
We provide financial management services, including tracking and monitoring revenues and expenditures, and providing regular financial reporting.
Human
resources
We can offer employment to sponsored program staff based in the Netherlands, or can handle contracting of sponsored program staff based elsewhere.
Capacity
building
Our team can offer expert assessments of the internal policies and practices and provide guidance on strengthening them to build parters’ capacity to manage awards and ensure compliance going forward.
